Create and Manage Modules
You may need to add or edit Modules to organize your weekly content. Think of a Module as a folder, organizing together your files, links, and assessment activities. Optionally, you can even create additional sub-modules within your main Modules to divide each week's materials into logical groupings.
Create a Module
Within the Content area of your course, on the left of the screen, you should see the Table of Contents. If you've already added some material to your course, or if you copied content from another course, you may already see a number of Modules listed in the Table of Contents.
Creating a new Module is easy-- the very last item in the Table of Contents should be a type-in field labeled "Add a Module". Simply click on this field, type the desired name of your module, and press Enter. A new Module with that name will be created at the bottom of your Table of Contents.

Create a Submodule
You can create a Submodule inside any other Module. Note that while the system will allow you to create many layers of modules-within-modules, this can become fairly confusing to your students to navigate if the layers are made too deep. Wherever possible, try to limit your Content to one main set of top-level modules, and then one layer of Submodules.
- Open the Module inside which you wish to create your new Submodule by clicking its name in the Table of Contents on the left side of the screen.
- In the main panel on the right side, scroll to the bottom of the Module and click the Add Sub-Module field.
- Type the name of your desired Sub-Module and then press Enter to create it.
Rename a Module
To change the title of a Module:
- Click the title of the Module in the Table of Contents on the left side of the screen. The Module should open in the main panel on the right.
- Click the title at the top of the page to begin editing it.
- Change the title as desired, then press Enter to save your changes.
Delete a Module
To remove a Module and all of its contents from your Content area:
- Click the title of the Module in the Table of Contents on the left side of the screen. The Module should open in the main panel on the right.
- Click the drop-down arrow beside the Module title at the top of the page, and choose Delete Module.
- A pop-up will appear with two options: "Remove the module", which is selected by default, and "Permanently delete". Always leave the default option, "Remove the module", selected. If you choose Permanently Delete, you will not be able to restore the module if you make a mistake or change your mind.
- Click Delete at the bottom to remove the module.

Move a Module
Modules can be easily moved within your Content area using a click-and-drag interface.
- Click the title of the Module in the Table of Contents on the left side of the screen.
- Beside the title of the Module, you will see a block of eight squares; this is the "grip point" for dragging the module. Click on the grip point, and while holding down your mouse button, drag the module to a different position in the Table of Contents. As you drag it up and down your Table of Contents, note that the display underneath it changes:
- When your cursor is above another module, that module will highlight in blue. Releasing the mouse button over a highlighted module will "drop" the dragged module within the one that is highlighted.
- When your cursor is between two modules, a dark bar will be displayed. Releasing the mouse button over a dark bar will "drop" the dragged module into the position where the bar is displayed.
- If you accidentally release the mouse button in the wrong place, just find the module you dropped and try dragging it again.
