After content has been copied into your course, your course’s homepage will prompt you to complete the Course Launch Checklist. The Course Launch Checklist will guide you through important updates that need to be completed or confirmed after copying content.

The items in the checklist are not new requirements. They are updates that we have always recommended, but which instructors frequently miss when setting up their courses. The checklist simply gathers these items together to help faculty keep track of them.

The checklist you see in your course will be tailored to your content. While there are up to 14 items that can appear in the list, the checklist will scan your course to determine which apply to the content you have copied and display only the items that are relevant to you.

If your course hasn't started yet, the Course Launch Checklist will appear on your homepage after your Guided Copy is complete. Once your course becomes visible to students, the Checklist can be found at the top of the Dashboard tab on your course's homepage.

Checklist Items

The following items will always appear in the checklist:

  • Instructor Information - Ensure that you are listed as the primary instructor on your course homepage and fill in your availability.
  • Welcome Page - Update your welcome page to reflect the current course.
  • Textbook Settings - Check that the Textbook button on your homepage displays the correct information or is hidden if no textbook is being used.
  • Assessment Dates - Check your Assignments, Quizzes, and Discussions, and update their dates to reflect the current semester.
  • Instructional Plan - Check/update your Instructional Plan. If your course has a Dynamic Instructional Plan, confirm that your assessments are displayed in the correct weeks, and that your outcomes are mapped.
  • Accommodations - Check the Accessibility portal to confirm whether any of your students have accommodations. If so, give those students Special Access on any appropriate assessments.

These items may appear in certain courses:

  • Meet Your Instructor - If your course has a MYI page, confirm that it reflects your name and information.
  • Announcements - If announcements were copied into your course, confirm whether you want to keep or remove each one, and update dates for the ones you are keeping.
  • Custom Links - If your course has custom Hhomepage links, test each one to confirm that the links work.
  • Publisher Integration - If your course uses resources or assessments on a publisher website, test the publisher link(s) in Content to ensure that your publisher site has been set up correctly.
  • Next Meeting - If your course is not Aasynchronous, configure the Next Meeting option on your homepage to reflect when and how your classes will meet.
  • Respondus - If your course has one or more Respondus-enabled quizzes, visit the Respondus control panel to automatically re-enable the tool.
  • TurnItIn - If your course contains Assignments, check whether you need to manually re-enable TurnItIn within the Assignments tool.
  • Intelligent Agents - If your course contains Intelligent Agents, check whether they need to be reactivated, updated, and/or have their dates changed. Also, manually set your reply-to address in the Intelligent Agent settings.

Note that the Course Launch Checklist does not check completion of these items for you; you will need to manually confirm whether each item is complete, and then return to the checklist and mark that item as completed.

Once you have marked all of your checklist items as completed, you be presented with a pop-up that lets you dismiss the checklist. Once dismissed, you can revisit the checklist at any time from your course’s Dashboard tab.
