Quiz Submission Views
The “Submission Views” feature within eConestoga quizzes can be used to control what information students see after they finish writing their quiz.
Changing the Default Submission View

After a student completes a quiz in eConestoga, the system will allow that person to review their submission; however, the specific information that student will see during this review is entirely controlled by the instructor. By default, eConestoga quizzes will display only the student’s overall score for a quiz attempt, without showing the questions, their answers, or any feedback or correct answer information. If you wish to alter what information is displayed,
- Go to Course Tools -> Quizzes.
- Click the drop-down arrow beside the quiz' title and choose Edit.
- Open the Submission Views tab.
- Click the Default View link.
- Configure the options you wish your students to see.
- Enabling "Show Questions" will show students the text of each question and its answer options, as well as the answer that student chose.
- Enabling “Show question score and out of score” displays the grade that student earned on that question.
- Enabling "Show Answers" will also show the student the correct answer if they got it wrong.
- When you're finished, click Save.
Additional Views
By default, all quizzes contain one Submission View, labeled the “Default View”. If you configure only the default view as outlined above, then students will always have the same information available in their quiz review.
However, it is often more useful to set up multiple views that take effect at different times. For example, if you have given your students a week to write a quiz, you may want to show students only their Overall Score while the quiz is still open, and then reveal the questions and correct answers only after the writing period has passed.
This type of multi-phase review can be set up by adding Additional Views to your quiz’ Submission Views. To do this,
- Go to Course Tools -> Quizzes.
- Click the drop-down arrow beside the quiz’ title and choose Edit.
- Open the Submission Views tab.
- Click Add Additional View
- You will be taken to the same options screen that you saw when editing the Default View, but with one additional group of settings under the heading "View Restrictions". These restrictions determine when and whether a student will have access to this Additional Submission View. Options include:
- Date: The date and time after which this Additional View will be enabled, overriding the previous one.
- IP Address: If enabled, the Submission View will follow any IP restrictions you've set up on the quiz' Restrictions tab. If the quiz has no IP restrictions, this option does nothing.
- Limited Duration: If enabled, you can type in a number of minutes that this Additional View will be visible to students after they submit their quiz. Note that this is always tied to the submission time of the quiz, and not to the visibility date of the Submission View itself. E.g., you have a Submission View that becomes available 1 week after the quiz closes, and you also set a Limited Duration of 60 minutes. The view will never appear to students because once that Date arrives, all students will be far outside their 60-minute Limited Duration. As a result, this option is mostly only useful for enabling a detailed review immediately after a student submits the quiz.
- When you're finished, click Save at the bottom.

You can set up any number of Additional Views for a given quiz, with students' review options always being subject to the most recent View whose date has passed (or the Default View if none of the Additional Views’ dates have arrived yet).
